8-10 June 2016 – Batumi, Georgia

The RECPnet Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) Regional Chapter Meeting took place from 8-10 June 2016, in Batumi, Georgia, in conjunction with the 8th Environment for Europe (EfE) Ministerial Conference.

The EECCA Regional Chapter Meeting focused on elaborating a role for RECPnet Members in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To this end, the activities and recent accomplishments of members in the region were discussed, experiences shared and information on upcoming collaboration opportunities provided.

Participants of the meetings also received an introductory seminar on an important European emerging policy framework, namely the Circular Economy. In targeted working groups, Chapter members sought to identify ways in which they could most effectively contribute to the Circular Economy, in the context of the 2030 Agenda.

RECPnet‘s knowledge management infrastructure was also presented in detail, and – through a brief guest presentation – members were given insight into how the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) manages its vast store of information and caters to its clients needs.

Lastly, Thematic Working Groups were devised at the regional level, bringing together member organizations around common topics of interest, to advance the development of specific knowledge products or project proposals.
